Everything Lizardmen: Special Characters

Lord Kroak - Lustria
Lord Kroak is one of the moest expensive models in the game points wise. He IS the alpha and omega in casting. He knows 6 spells, plus drain life, PLUS ruination of cities which is quite possibly one of the most deadly spells in the game due to the nerf of Comet of Cassandora. Because he's dead, his actual casting abilities aren't that much better than a second generation slanns, but he is somewhat more powerful. Don't let him near combat as he has zero attacks, he is dead after all.

Ancient Scar-Leader Kroq-Gar - Lustria
Kroq-Gar is a somewhat more plausible character than Kroak. He doesn't cost anywhere near as much as Kroak in terms of points. I like the character somewhat, his magic items are interesting, however a lot of people prefer a normal Saurus Oldblood on a Carnosaur so they can tool him up how they wish. Kroq-Gar does allow for an all cavalry or fast moving army though, switching around the placement of Saurus Cavalry into core and Saurus Warriors are moved into special.

Tehenhauin - Red Host
Tehenhauin is a pretty solid character. Negating the fact that Red Host armies must take him as a lord, who wouldn't want to? Obviously you're playing Red Host for fluff reasons, so you may as well do just that. He should be supported by swarms though otherwise you lose the benefit of the Totem of Sotek. For 350 points you get quite a lot, and he's quite a monster of a Skink. Better than a Chief at combat, better than a Priest at casting, and then he has special rules like his Tide of Serpents and items like the Blade of the Serpent's Tongue to boot.

Lord Mazdamundi - Lustria
The Oldest of the Slann alive today, the worlds most powerful living spellcaster, and what do GW do? Give him pretty poor rules. That's right, Mazdamundi isn't all that. With a combined profile with his Stegadon, it's not that much of a step up from the Slann. Sure, you get some attacks at higher strength but that's all. However, he will very rarely ever run due to the Stegadon giving him rules like being stubborn and immune to panic. He seems like a pretty decent deal at first doesn't he? A Combat Slann, can still cast spells even when in combat due to his line of sight. However, it's his spells that let him down. Demise of cities is a low powered Ruination of Cities which has a nasty downside if you misfie. His spells are either useful or not, and that's that. To make matters worse, the only thing that makes him more powerful than a 2nd generation slann is his Itxi Grubs, but they only last until his next magic phase. Mazdamundi can do better, we all know it.

Ten-Zlati, the Oracle of Lord Kroak - Lustria
Ten-Zlati is just a regular level 2 Skink Priest mounted on a terradon with the venom of the Firefly frog. Why the venom of a Firefly Frog? Who knows! However the nice thing about this model is, it's easy to convert and it gives the Priest mobility without having to take the cloak of feathers. However, due to his rules being in a White Dwarf, they're not official. So if you truly want to use him, you're going to have to fork out that Cloak of Feathers on him. He's not really special, his Terradon grants him hit-and-run, but all attacks are made against him so it's really not a good idea to send him into combat anyway.

Lord Xltep of Itza - Lustria
Was used during the campaign 'Vampires in Lustria' along with one version of Nakai. He is only a 3rd generation slann, so there's a slight damper there. He follows pretty much the standard points cost for a 3rd generation slann and the items he has. His one and only unique thing is the Coils of Sotek, which doubles the rank bonus of his unit in combat. Huanchi's Blessed Totem really isn't the grandest thing for the unit, as Totem of Prophecy would be much better. However, I can see why it wasn't the case as his unit would steamroll through nearly anything. From a quick tally, Coils of Sotek costs about 70-ish points which seems a little bit expensive, but nothing overly important.

Nakai, Sacred Kroxigor of the First Spawning - Lustria
Another character (this incarnation) that was used during the campaing 'Vampires in Lustria'. Many Lizardmen players are quite offended by this version, as it doesn't adhere to the fluff about Nakai at all. If you put that behind you, this version of Nakai is very solid in how many points it costs.

Nakai the Wanderer, Sacred Kroxigor of the First Spawning - Lustria
This version of Nakai is also quite solid, and much closer to the fluff than the previos version. He costs more points, takes up better slots and is overall a lot more meaner than the last version. There's still room for improvement but it's better than the previous in terms of being true to the fluff.
