Everything Lizardmen: Hero Characters

Saurus Scar-Veteran - Lustria, Southlands, Red Host
The hero character of choice for many. A very solid combat hero and the highest leadership
out of our heroes. However, this IS just the standard leadership 8 for Saurus, so only
really benefits non-Saurus units. Has stats above the average when compared to most other
armies heroes, but also comes at a cost. In a Southlands army he counts as a lord choice.
Given the fact that apart from weaponskill and wounds he is pretty much equivalent or better
than a lot of weaker armies lords anyways, it's a fairly nice price.
Skink Chief - Lustria, Southlands, Red Host
Skink Chiefs are the weak point of our Hero selection. They are quite costly for their stats,
and their stats aren't all that great especially when compared to a lot of other armies heroes.
Even the skink specific magic items are very costly and have limited uses. Most of the time
the only Chief you'll see is a Flying Skink of Death, as his ballistic skill is too low
to make use of the Staff of the Lost Sun and his combat abilities coupled with the fact
that there are almost no Skink combat orientated units means he won't be in a proper melee. For Southlands,
the Chief has a better selection of blessed spawnings. However, because Cohorts are so abysmal with their
stats and cost, you'll either just see him as a Flying Skink of Death or with a unit of Horned One Riders.
Unfortunately again, Skink Chief must use up their one blessed spawning slot to get Itzl spawning to actually
ride the Horned One, so cannot be with a unit of blessed spawning Horned One Riders. The Red Host list
takes Skink Chiefs in a better direction. Red Crested Skinks are very capable in close combat, so it at
least gives the Chief an infantry unit to go with. The Red Crest ability is quite nice. Also
two chiefs can be taken as one hero slot! Not to mention they can take 75 points of magic items. This
puts a new spin on skink only items, as a few of them become a bit more useable.
Skink Priest - Lustria, Southlands, Red Host Skink Priests are our hero level caster. Nothing really spectacular about them. They're good runners due to their movement of 6, so they can get in closer or get away faster if they need to. Heavens is our default and only lore (bar Sacred Hosts), which is decent on most accounts. Due to priests only being a max level of 2, the comet is not really recommended though as you can only cast on a maximum of 3 dice. Southlands armies have the infamous Skink Priest magical defense army, where they all take blessed spawning of Tepok for a remarkable amount of dispel dice.
