Happy New Year everybody. I hope back in the festive season, your stockings were filled with blisters, and snug under the tree was a Stegadon awaiting you Christmas morning.
For now, is the time of painting! It's a bit late but it's here, the first competition of 2010.
Golden Old One 2010 Competition 4 - Special Unit
Start Time: Like always, this instant!
End Time: March 31st, 2010.
Competition: Paint any special unit in our list.
Description: Your task, is to paint one of the special units from our list. Special units start adding the flavour and definition to our list. And of course, most of the cool things are in special as well (Who cares about foot troopers and skirmishers! We want Chameleon Skin and hulking brutes).
Rules:
1. The entry must have been painted during the last 3 months (From October) or during the year of 2010. The objective of the competitions is to get people to paint, not to display work done 3 years ago.
2. The model must be made and painted by you! Don't be a dirty Skaven and take credit for other people's work.
3. The unit must at least be the minimum unit size of it's type. This means at least 10 Temple Guard, 5 Chameleon Skinks, 5 Saurus Cavalry, 3 Kroxigors, 3 Terradons or a Stegadon. Your entry may be more than this, but no less.
Rewards:
Coming first in the competition grants you two things!
1. The rights to display the Golden Old One 2010 Competition 4 winner's medal in their signature.
2. You get your choice of a custom title on the Pyramid Vault.
Entry Details:
People ALWAYS get this wrong, so pleas read this section before sending me your entry.
Please send me an email to someone2040@pyramidvault.net with the following details
1. Subject should be "Golden Old One 2010 Competition 4". If it isn't odds are it'll be written off as junk.
2. In the body of the email, leave your Pyramid Vault Username and attach up to 4 images of your entry.
All that being said, get painting! _________________ Mod Rules

Would I be safe to assume that the "Rare choice" for the competition will commence after March 31st? _________________ I am the rocks of the eternal shore. Crash against me and be broken! ~Apocalypse~ |

Here is the current line up for the golden old one for 2010
http://www.pyramidvault.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4395
So next up is create a custom standard, rare is after that. If you start painting your rare choice straight after your special choice is in, then you've got plenty of time to make it absolutely awesome _________________

I'll probably participate in this one. For starters I've got a unit of cold ones nearly done. But if I manage, there's also four terrakroxes, which are indeed, kroxigors with draconic wings, that just need a few more touches to finish the conversion off.
By the way, wouldn't it be better for the next voting thread to post thumbnails of the entries? I know there's lots of big picture hate around this forum, but that way you guarantuee people won't just click on the first few links and vote without seeing the rest |

I personally don't think we have this problem here at the Vault. Besides, it's not like we're getting 20 entries or anything. We generally only get a handful, so... the first 'few' entries are really all the entries in the competition anyway. _________________ Mod Rules

Sorry for that then. I just remember the first competition with probably close to 20 entries and having to go through all of them before voting. It just went through my head. |

Hey all. This is just a reminder for you Lizardmen collectors to get your painting hat's on. There's only 1 month left in this competition, and only one entry so far.
Everyone need special units in their army! So get painting! _________________ Mod Rules

Hmm ... I think I can do a steg by the 31st, and I need one for my army ...
I had been painting a bunch of Saurus Warriors, but I may need to switch over and get in on this. _________________ Lord of the Dragon Caves

Don't say never!
I think Stegadons are very doable, just depends on how finicky you are with your shading and highlighting.
For example, there's 18 days left for me... and the next 7 I'm finishing up my Dogs of War for a tournameny. So including said tournament, and busy weekends, I still intend to completely paint 3 Kroxigors.
At the moment all I've done is assembled and based them!
So yeah, don't give up, give it a shot. The whole idea is to motivate you to paint! Don't feel inclined to rush, but if you're painting because you feel like entering this contest, the contest is doing it's job! _________________ Mod Rules

I did switch over from working on my big units of foot troops to a Stegadon. Last night, I cleaned up the parts, assembled the Steg itself the howdah, and greenstuffed the gaps last night. Tonight I prime and start painting. _________________ Lord of the Dragon Caves

Good on ya. Still plenty of time for anyone to join in. I won't even be working on my Kroxigors until the 22nd at earliest - so if I can do it, anyone can! _________________ Mod Rules

I am definitely in on this thing. Stegadon itself has been painted. Still need to do the howdah, crew, and base. Will try to post a WiP shot in my paint blog sometime tonight. _________________ Lord of the Dragon Caves

Not sure I'm going to finish my steg in time, but I'll be painting tonight and tomorrow in an effort to get it done ... _________________ Lord of the Dragon Caves

That's what I'll be doing kinda.
Worse for me, I have a Bloodbowl match tomorrow night. So can't paint during my lunch break nor after work (Due to getting home pretty late).
So I have basically tonight to finish it off . And there are so many scales... so very many...

Not gonna finish. Not done with the crew and was at work late tonight ... I'll have to get in on the next round. No matter what it is (core, rare, special, character) I'll have something I can paint for it. _________________ Lord of the Dragon Caves
