So folks, with Rikard gone for a while, I've taken it upon myself to organise everything. Pretty simple really, but I did a whole lot of work today to organise everything to be neat and tidy, especially adding all the works into a gallery, so future generations of Vaulters can look back upon the contest.

First off, I would like to thank everyone who made this years Golden Old One a big success. I have to say, we had a fairly decent turn out this year. Maybe not as many miniatures as in the past, but we are a smaller community at the moment, and irregardless the quality of miniatures entered was high.
Big thanks to Rikard, for making the majority of this happen. A lot of this was rush rush, but he stuck his hand in there and made this all happen.

Secondly, I hope this years Golden Old One is inspiration to those doing Lizardmen. Hopefully enough motivation to paint some of those figurines of yours, possible still in their boxes. And hopefully, next years contest will end up in positive light as well.

Anyway, without further adieu, I give you the Results of the Golden Old One.

First off the bat, is the best Saurus or Skink miniature category. This category had a fierce competition, with no clear definition of who was going to take the Golden Old One plaque this year! Everyone did an amazing job, and figures ranged from Fat Skinks, to old 5th edition Saurus! At the end of the day, there wasn't even a clear winner!
Congratulations to Capn_Jimbob for his Fat Skink Priest and to Justin&TheOldOnes for his amazingly painted Skink Chief.
You both have the right to use the Golden Old One 2008 Character Category plaque in your signature! Also, you are entitled to a free custom title!

The Monster category, full of the large beasts that inhabit the Jungles of Lustria. Carnosaurs, Stegadons, Slanns and even Snake-Like Kroxigors made their appearance. However, the Carnosaurs, Reptilian King of the Jungle claimed victory in this battle of the Titans.
Congratulations to Kiour_Gr, whose Carnosaur made first place.

Last but not least, the newcomer category for the Golden Old One, the Conversion category! Conversions and sculpting seem to be an upcoming trend on the Vault, possibly inspired by the amazing creations of our own Rikard! Not only in this category, but in the other 2 categories conversions or alternate figurines made their way into the contest. This is perhaps the most interesting category, as you see the amazing creations of our scaled brethren at the Vault. Appearances of Slanns, Skinks, Stegadons, Saurus and even the elusive and rare Coatl made their appearance for this first off show-down.
In the end, the best sculpt of the day was the scratch-built slann by Capn_Jimbob, Congratulations on your victory!
You are entitled to use the Golden Old One 2008 Conversion Category plaque in your signature. However, you only have 1 title to customize!

A job well done to those who entered the contest. It's not about winning, it 's about the effort you put into making your models. I personally congratulate all those who entered the competition.

For those interested, you can find all the entrants to the Golden Old One at the 2008 Golden Old One Gallery. As I didn't want to re-upload every single picture for all the entrants, I spliced together some of the more interesting pictures onto one image. Yes, it was a hack-job - I wasn't going to spend the time carefully cutting out each image from the background - but I think it does a fairly nice job. This gallery was made, so future generations of Vaulters can look back upon the contest, without having to run all over the place seeking images.

Anyway, that's all for the Golden Old One for this year. Look forward to future competitions at the Pyramid Vault!

Edit :
For all those who participated, you are eligible to use this signature-sized image in your signature! Respect to those who participated! It would be nice to link it either back to this results page, or the Gallery so other people know what happened.

May I suggest that the gallery also be linked with the plaques in the signatures so new people can just click on the plaque to see all the awesome work everyone has done? I'm sure this thread will be totally buried in a month after all. Very Happy

Unfortunately I cannot enforce the winners to do that. It is a good idea, but yeah - if they want to do it, they may.
On the other hand, I'll put a link in my signature about it. That helps at least!
Edit : I did make a 2 part sig, one-part linked to the Results, the other to the gallery. But character limitation in the signature stopped me from using it Sad

Also, there is now a participating signature available. See the results post.

Whoohoo! I'd just like to say thanks for everyone that voted for me. The competition was pretty stiff, I must say. Big ups to all the other participants Cool

Looking forward to the 2009 GOO!

For the Old Ones!
